Dr. Alldredge is retiring at the end of May, 2001 and is not accepting any new graduate students. He would, however, enjoy hearing from former students and hopes to remain professionally active after his retirement.
Professional Objective: To continue application of a broad education base in wildlife ecology to teaching and
research for the purpose of helping to perpetuate our wildlife resources.
Research satisfies a desire I have had since childhood to tinker with things while teaching satisfies an obsession I have for sharing a love of life. My research interests largely focus on mammals with emphasis on population dynamics, trophic ecology and habitat use for deer, elk and pronghorn antelope. Most recently we have focused on the impacts of habitat alteration and disturbance on elk populations and dispersal in bull elk. I have also been involved with research on the endangered Himalayan musk deer in the Himalayas of Nepal. Almost all of my research is conducted with my graduate students with whom I share a delight and excitement in learning.
